Playa de Aro (Platja d'Aro) - Located between the towns of Palamos and Sant Feliu de Guixols on the Costa Brava coastline of Catalonia, the modern resort of Playa de Aro (Platja d’Aro) is one of the most popular seaside resorts along this stretch of coast.
An all year round resort, though much more popular during the summer months, Playa de Aro has a 2 kilometre long beach and a busy town centre with a good range of facilities including shops, bars and restaurants. Playa de Aro also boasts a bowling alley, a pitch and putt golf course, a superb water park - Aquadiver Waterworld, a large amusement park - Magic Park and a lively nightlife scene.
Together with the neighbouring S’Agaro and Castell d’Aro areas, this is an excellent holiday destination with a good choice of hotels and holiday accommodation.
Apart from the beach around which the resort is built, the coastal walkway provides a good escape, and with a little adventure in your blood you will find some charming isolated coves and beaches which are less crowded than the main beach resorts.
Golfers are well provided for with a decent selection of courses in the area including Golf d’Aro and the Club de Golf Costa Brava, both within easy driving distance.
Playa de Aro Hotels - Playa de Aro has a good choice of hotels for your holidays in the resort, including the Cap Roig, the Platja Park, the Monterray and the Columbus Hotel.
Playa de Aro Markets - The local street market for Playa de Aro is held on Fridays, the best of the other markets is the Palamos Tuesday market.
Playa de Aro Fiestas - Playa de Aro has its fair share of fiestas and celebrations including the carnival in February, the Fiesta de Platja d’Aro in August, the Medieval Market (Castell d’Aro) in August and the Beer Festival in October.
Playa de Aro is situated just off the C-31, north of Sant Feliu de Guixols, it is about 35 kilometres from Girona and its airport.
