Costa Blanca Beaches - Torrevieja
Torrevieja Beach - An excellent picture of one of the many 'sand carvers' that entertain visitors to Torrevieja. Whilst walking along the promenade or enjoying the sun on Torrevieja beach you are likely to spot one of these artists making elaborate models in the sand, they make a considerable amount of money from their project and many coins thrown by passers by can be seen on the green carpet at the side.
There are numerous beaches in Torrevieja and this is just a small beach located in the area of the ice-cream parlours on the pedestrianised stretch of the promenade. A little futher on is the popular Torrevieja beach of Playa del Cura (Priest's Beach) and beyond that one of the more popular of Torrevieja's beaches - Playa Los Locos (Beach of the Mad).
Going southwards beyond the marina is the biggest Torrevieja beach - Playa de los Naufragos, a huge but popular beach which gets very crowded during the summertime, however due to the Spanish tradition of getting as close to the sea as possible, no matter how close you are to other beach lovers, there is always plenty of space at the back of the beach.
Head a little further south by car and you will find some excellent beaches along the Orihuela Costa, these include Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and Cabo Roig. Most of these beaches have 'blue flag' status and are very safe and clean.
