Costa Blanca Golf Courses - Villamartin Orihuela Costa
Villamartin and Villamartin Golf Course: Of the three Orihuela Costa golf courses, Villamartin is perhaps the best known, and best regarded, and in fact hosted the Mediterranean Open in 1994.
Along with its close neighbours, Campoamor Golf (Club de Golf Campoamor) and Las Ramblas, Villamartin attracts golfing fans from all over the world, and is one of the major attractions of the Orihuela Costa area.
The golf course at Villamartin, which was designed by Paul Pulman was declared open for business in 1972, and rated at Par 72, with the playing distances Yellow Tee - 6,037m, and Red Tee 5,259m. The course is quite challenging with many trees and water hazards. The usual price for a round (green fees) in 2011 was around 51 euro.
Beside the clubhouse and first tee of Villamartin golf course you will find the well known Villamartin Plaza, the centre of life in the area for residents, holidaymakers and golfers alike. Within the Villamartin Plaza complex are a large number of bars, cafes and restaurants, together with a supermarket, banks, farmacia, and other facilities. Within the plaza are some first class restaurants, and it has a great atmosphere when bustling with visitors.
The surrounding gardens are attractive, and worth a look, keep your eye out for the unusual statue of a naked lady in a golf swing pose.
Close to Villamartin are the coastal resorts of the Orihuela Costa, with such excellent resorts as Cabo Roig, La Zenia and Playa Flamenca, within easy reach. The busy town of Torrevieja is just eight kilometres away.
If you are holidaying in Villamartin, you might like to take a day out to visit the enormous resort of Benidorm (just an hour and half drive away) with its many attractions.
Also within easy reach are the cities of Murcia, Cartagena, Elche and Alicante.
You can easily access Villamartin golf course, plaza, and residencial areas from La Zenia (signposted from the La Zenia roundabout), and from Dehesa de Campoamor or San Miguel de Salinas, it is also close to the AP-7 motorway (get off at La Zenia).

If you are going straight to Villamartin from the airport you will find that it is a drive of forty five minutes from Alicante airport, and twenty five minutes from San Javier (Murcia) airport.
