Cullera - A town and municipality to the south of Valencia, Cullera is situated at the mouth of the Júcar River and is overlooked by its 13th century Moorish castle, high on a mountain above the town, it is on the stretch of coastline known as the Costa del Azahar.
Over the centuries Cullera has survived economically mostly through fishing and agriculture, especially the cultivation of rice and citrus fruits. These days Cullera has a significant tourism industry and has several fine sandy beaches, which add to the attraction of the area.
To the north of the Montaña de Cullera (Cullera Mountain), is the San Lorenzo Lagoon, a small lake which now marks the southern limit of the L'Albufera Natural Park (Parque Natural de L'Albufera).
Place to visit in Cullera include the 13th century castle, the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Carmen (inside the castle), the Torre de Marenyet, a 15th century watchtower, the 17th century Church of Saint Johns, and the Caves of Dragut, attractions for families include the water park, Aquopolis Cullera.
Cullera beaches - Cullera has a number of beaches, including El Racó, L'Estany, El Marenyet and L'Illa.
Cullera is located to the south of Valencia and south-east of Sueca, it can be accessed from the N-332 or the AP-7 motorway, it is about 40 kilometres from Valencia on the coastline known as the Costa del Azahar.
