Costa del Azahar Resorts - Alcossebre

Alcossebre - A charming little coastal resort to the north of Castellon de la Plana and Benicassim, Alcossebre is on a stretch of unspoilt Spanish coastline called the Costa del Azahar (or Orange Blossom Coast), surrounded by areas of great natural beauty, Alcossebre is perfect for a laid back holiday, for enjoying sports such as golf and scuba diving, or for enjoying the coastline and countryside, hiking and cycling.

While today a modern resort with all the usual facilities, Alcossebre's history goes back to the Moorish occupation of Spain, and its ancient monuments include the Xivert Castle, originally Moorish and captured by Jaime I of Aragon in 1234, located on a hill overlooking the area.

Alcossebre has some wonderful sandy beaches, many with 'Blue Flag' status for cleanliness, some of the best beaches are in the area known as Las Fuentes (or Les Fonts), so named because of its freshwater fountains. To the north of Alcossebre lies the Sierra de Irta Natural Park, a protected area of great natural beauty, declared a Nature Reserve in 2002 by the Valencian Government.

Ideal as a base for touring the Costa del Azahar region, Alcossebre is located just 4 kilometres from the A-7 motorway (exit 44) and can also be accessed from the N-340.
