Benicassim Spain - One of the better known resorts of the Costa del Azahar is Benicassim, situated within the province of Castellón in the Communidad de Valencia, some thirteen kilometres north of Castelló de la Plana, Benicassim is perhaps best known for its being the venue for the renowned ‘International Festival of Rock Music’ first held in 1994, which takes place in August.

Benicassim has a resident population of about 14,000 and relies mainly on tourism for its survival. Benicassim has two lovely sandy beaches (San Vicente and Playa Almadrava) and has some superb water sports facilities, it also has a popular water park, ‘Aquarama’.

Places of interest which are worth a visit in Benicassim include the medieval castle of Montremós built by the Arabs in the Tenth Century on the site of an earlier Roman fortress, the Fifteenth Century San Vicente Tower and the Eighteenth Century Neoclassical parish church.

Benicassim Fiestas and Festivals: Fiesta dedicated to Santa Agueda and San Antonio Abad (January 17th), the Corpus Christi, the Night of San Juan, the fiesta of Santo Thomas de Villanueva (September 22nd) and the 'International Festival of Rock Music' held in August.

Benicassim Festival 2010: The 2010 Benicassim Festival is scheduled to take place between 15th and 18th July, 2010 at the Recinto De Conciertos.

Benicassim Line Up 2010 Acts: The Benicassim festival line up for 2010 so far includes Dizzee Rascal, The Specials, Kasabian, Public Image Ltd, the Prodigy and Ian Brown, other possibles include Green Day and Julian Casablancas.
