Santa Ponsa -

Located in south-western Mallorca, the family resort of Santa Ponsa has a couple of excellent sandy beaches and a good range of facilities. A little quieter than the equally popular resorts of Magaluf and Palma Nova, Santa Ponsa offers all that is required for a perfect family holiday.

One of the only resorts which actually has a history, Santa Ponsa is famous as the landing place of the Christians during their re-conquest of Mallorca. Jaime I of Aragon landed here on September 10th, 1229 and subsequently gained control of Mallorca after over 300 years of Arab rule, the island was then annexed to the Kingdom of Aragon and Jaimes son (Jaime II) later became the first King of Mallorca, the Rey en Jaume Fiesta, celebrating this event is held in Santa Ponsa during September and is one of the biggest festivals held in Mallorca.

Santa Ponsa has a good range of hotels and holiday rental accommodation, so finding somewhere to stay should not be a problem, the main beach is large and sandy with some decent facilities, the smaller beach, known as 'Little Beach' is a small sandy cove on the way to Santa Ponsa Marina, it has few facilities but may be quieter (except at weekends).

Santa Ponsa has a great range of bars and restaurants and there is something to suit every taste, food will range from traditional Spanish to British fish and chips. The most popular attractions are located in the neighbouring resorts and these include Aqualand (Magaluf), Pirates Adventure (Magaluf), Golf Fantasia (Palma Nova), Marineland (Portals Nous), Western Water Park (Magaluf) and Karting Magaluf, don't forget a trip into the capital Palma de Mallorca, where there are some great places to visit including the beautiful Gothic cathedral.

Santa Ponsa is located about 18 km from Palma and 30 km from Palma de Mallorca airport, it is only around 4 km from the lively resort of Magaluf.
