Cala Millor Mallorca

Guide to Cala Millor, a resort on Mallorca, in the Spanish Balearics.

Resorts of Mallorca - Cala Millor

Cala Millor Mallorca Spain - Located on the rugged north-east coast of Majorca (Mallorca) in the Spanish Balearic Islands, Cala Millor is a busy holiday resort which is ideal for family holidays. Cala Millor ("Better Bay") and its quieter neighbour Cala Bona ("Good Bay") lie in a 6km wide bay sheltered by two rocky headlands, the surrounding coastline is sprinkled with small coves and creeks and is a beautiful part of the island.

Cala Millor claims to have one of the finest beaches on Mallorca, consting of fine, white sand, it slopes gently down to the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea, providing a safe family environment and perfect for sunbathing, swimming and water sports such as windsurfing. The beach has some decent facilities and has sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, there is also a windsurfing school, the beach is about a kilometre and a half long and is backed by an attractive palm-lined promenade a popular place for an evening stroll, an early morning jog or a pleasant cycle ride. There are lifeguards in attendance on the beach during the busy times and warning flags to keep holidaymakers informed of the latest conditions - when the red flag is flying - do not swim.

Cala Millor has a decent range of shops and plenty of bars and restaurants for daytime dining and evening entertainment. There are a number of British style bars offering such evening activities as karaoke, bingo, quiz nights and also live singers and entertainers, those who are looking for night clubs and the like would be better advised to head for one of the busier resorts such as Magaluf.

For a local bargain you can head for the Friday market at Son Servera which is a short distance from Cala Millor, other markets can be found at Arta (Tuesdays) and Manacor (Mondays).

If you are hiring a car you may want to take a trip to the nearby caves at Coves de Drac (Dragon Caves) and Coves del Hams, these caves are listed among the most popular attractions on Mallorca, and lots of visitors every day enter the dark, humid caves to see amongst other things the largest underground lake in Europe (found in Coves de Drac).
