Alicante is an ancient and historic city overlooked by the biggest medieval fortress in Europe - the Santa Barbara Castle. Alicante is of course the main arrival point for holidaymakers visiting the Costa Blanca region to enjoy the wonderful weather and beaches, the airport is located about 13 kilometres south of the city at El Altet, it is ideal for reaching such popular areas as Benidorm and Torrevieja.
As can be seen on this Alicante map, the city can be accessed via the A-70 motorway, the N-332, the A-30, or the N-340, it is a driving distance of around 179 kilometres from Valencia.
