You might want to consider a trip to the northern Mallorca town of Alcudia, which is a world away from the busy resorts of southern Mallorca (Majorca), its quiet streets provide an ideal base for visiting the island and in particular the beautiful northern areas.
Alcudia Mallorca has a six mile long coastline with plenty of wonderful sandy beaches, so you can still hit the beach when you fancy some relaxing time. Culture seekers may choose to visit the historical old walled town, where the charming narrow streets remind visitors of long past days in the town’s history.
Take a walk down to Port D’Alcudia, a busy harbour from where you can take boat trips or just watch the local fishing craft return with their catch, drying their nets on the harbour side, much as they have for a thousand years or more.
Whilst in Alcudia, don’t forget a visit to the nearby Nature reserve of S’Albufera, a wonderful haven for birdlife and a popular area for birdwatchers, you can cycle or walk over its 2,000 acres and enjoy the tranquillity while trying to spot some of its 200 or more bird species.
