Nerja lies at the foot of the beautiful Sierra de Almijarra mountains, perched on a cliff above a series of sandy coves. Well away from the madness of Torremolinos and its neighbours, Nerja has become a classy resort, with much of the tourist activity condensed around the promenade area which runs along a rocky outcrop called El Balcon de Europa.
