La Mata is situated just to the north of the busy town of Torrevieja on the southern Costa Blanca, Spain. La Mata is a typically Spanish resort although many Brits and other nationalities have purchased holiday homes in the town in recent years. La Mata has some fine beaches and a decent selection of shops, bars and restaurants, it also holds its popular weekly market every Wednesday. The nearby town of Torrevieja has some excellent facilities and is just a short drive away from La Mata.
As can be seen on this La Mata map, the resort can be easily accessed from the N-332 coast road between Torrevieja and Guardamar del Segura, it is about 36 kilometres from Alicante airport.
