Seville is a city with over 2,000 years of history, it is the cultural and economic capital of southern Spain. Seville has a population of around 700,000 and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in southern Spain, with a large number of interesting places to visit including the fabulous Gothic cathedral, the largest in Europe. Seville's history begins with the Romans when it was known as Hispalis, little remains from Roman times apart from remnants of an aqueduct. Most of the best attractions date from the Moorish occupation and from the early days of the reconquest, when Mudéjar craftsmen were employed by Christian monarchs to build churches and palaces. Seville of course has its own International Airport, which is situated about 10 kilometres north-east of the city centre at San Pablo.

Seville has good road links with Cordoba, Madrid, Malaga and Huelva and is located on the A-4 (E-5), the E-1, A-66 and A-92.
