Murcia Map - Above is a location map for Murcia on the Costa Calida, Spain. Also shown is the Mar Menor coastline with its many fine resorts and lovely sandy beaches. The Murcia region is now the location of many major golf developments and some fine new courses are being designed and built. At the bottom of the map is the ancient city of Cartagena, once the capital city and headquarters for the famous Carthaginian Hannibal (of elephant fame). Cartagena has some fantastic ancient monuments especially from the time of the Roman occupation. Murcia itself is another ancient city with over 300,000 inhabitants and a history going back to Iberian, Phoenician and Greek civilizations.
