Dolores is a mostly agricultural village and is famous for its livestock fair the 'Feria Granadera', which attracts some of the richest cattle owners in Spain. The La Finca Golf Club at Algorfa is about 7 kilometres away. The village is on the road between Catral and San Fulgencio.

Dolores is situated east of Catral and is easily assessible from Guardamar del Segura, turning off the N-332 following signs for Rojales,it can also be accessed from the AP-7 motorway (junction 737).
