Situated about nine kilometres north of Arrecife on the island of Lanzarote is the relatively new seaside resort of Costa Teguise, developed mainly since 1977 it is now the 3rd most popular resort on the island attracting holidaymakers all year round, who come to enjoy the fine beaches, lovely climate and excellent range of facilities. Costa Teguise has a local population of between 3,000 and 4,000 inhabitants but of course this rises during the busy months.

Development began in Costa Teguise with the opening of a new hotel designed by César Manrique and the town has not been blighted by high-rise deveopment. Costa Teguise has an 18-hole golf course (Golf Costa Teguise) and a splendid marina and also has its own water park Aquapark where visitors can enjoy one of the exciting water rides or just swim in one of the pools. Costa Teguise is also a renowned area for the pursiut of water sports and has some excellent facilities available for those wishing to try out windsurfing, sailing, diving and similar sports.

While Costa Teguise does have a wide range of pubs, discos, restaurants and night-clubs the nightlife is possibly not as lively as it is in Puerto del Carmen, though there should be enough entertainment to satisfy all but the most dedicated clubbers.

Sun worshippers will find plenty to satisfy them in Costa Teguise and the beaches are sandy and clean, the best known beaches are Playa Los Cucharas, Playa Los Charcos and Playa Bastian.

Costa Teguise holds street markets on Thursdays 10.00am to 6pm and on Friday evenings 6pm to 12pm. A much bigger street market is held every Sunday in the town of Teguise itself, and this is reputed to be the biggest street market on Lanzarote.

Finding decent accommodation in Costa Teguise is a breeze and there are a great selection of hotels and apartment complexes available in which to book your stay, most of the major tour operators feature package deals to Costa Teguise and there is plenty to choose from.

Costa Teguise can be easily accessed by road from the airport at Arrecife which is about 15-20 minutes drive away.
