A popular resort located between Marbella and Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol, Spain, Calahonda was founded by the Van Dulken family and was the location of a fort and watchtowers, built to shelter residents during pirate attacks. These days Calahonda is a renowed holiday destination with its own natural harbour Puerto Cabopino, having berths for 170 craft. The area has some fine sandy beaches and a good range of facilities, with plenty of bars, restaurants and "chiringuitos" (beach bars). There are very few hotels in Calahonda but there is an excellent choice of privately owned rental accommodation.

Calahonda can be reached by way of the A-7 or the AP-7 motorway and is about 35 kilometres from Malaga.
