Costa Blanca Resorts - Cabo Roig

If you are thinking of heading to Spain and are looking for a seaside holiday, then Cabo Roig on the Costa Blanca may be just the place for you. Located on the popular Orihuela Costa section of the Southern Costa Blanca, Spain, Cabo Roig is an exclusive and beautiful resort. There are plenty of great beaches to enjoy in Cabo Roig and also a good variety of bars and restaurants. The popularity of the resort is reflected in the large number of tourists who come back year after year to enjoy the sun, sand, sea and sangria.

The eye-catching 16th century watchtower, around which Cabo Roig originally grew, is now part of a restaurant complex which overlooks the recently modernised marina. An estimated 2 million euros was spent on the refurbishment of what is now one of the Costa Blanca’s most desirable mooring spots.

The resort boasts a couple of excellent clean sandy beaches and these are a big draw for the holidaymaker during the hot summer months, they do however rarely get uncomfortably packed and you can usually find a nice spot to sit and enjoy some serious sunbathing. The beaches are well maintained and safe for children and pedalos are available for hire for those who want a little exercise and adventure.

There is a superb cliff walk from Cabo Roig beach to La Zenia beach and there are numerous secluded coves where you can catch the sun with very little company, even during the summer season. If you prefer to catch something a little more exciting, the fishing is also wonderful and the dorada in particular give a fine fight on light gear. The water is crystal clear and ideal for scuba diving, snorkeling and spear fishing. Sailing, wind surfing, jet skiing and boat-hire are other popular activities available in the area.

The climate in Cabo Roig is warm and temperate and it is considered to be one of the healthiest places to live. The summers are warm and dry with temperatures sometimes reaching 40 degrees centigrade in July and August, the average temperature through the year is approximately 20 degrees centigrade with winter temperatures rarely falling below 10 degrees. Rainfall is scarce and occasional and occurs mostly during the winter.

There are a wide range of bars and restaurants in the area, particularly along Cabo Roig strip (sometimes called "Aguamarina strip"), offering a wide range of cuisines including Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Chinese, Greek, Hungarian and of course English and Irish. There are also plenty of fast food establishments offering the usual burgers and kebabs.

If you feel you want to explore a little further afield then there are lots of other things to do in and around Cabo Roig. A trip into the busy town of Torrevieja is well worth the effort as it has some fabulous facilities, in the summer months the fantastic Aquopolis (aqua splash park) is open with its scary water chutes and slides, the enormous Friday market is a phenomenon and is full of bargains, the lovely promenade is well worth a visit - enjoy a huge ice-cream concoction in one of its many seafront ice-cream parlours, and take the kids to the fun fair, also on the seafront and excellent value. You may also want to visit on of the historic cities in the region, Alicante, Cartagena and Elche are all worth a visit.

So this is Cabo Roig “the jewel of the Costa Blanca”, a perfect spot to re-locate, an ideal destination for a family holiday or just a nice place for a short visit.

Cabo Roig is easily reached by way of the N-332 coastal road (Cartagena to Alicante) or from the AP-7 motorway junctions 768 or 763. The closest airport is Murcia (San Javier) which is approximately 20 minutes drive away.
