Antequera is noted for its two Bronze Age burial mounds (dolmens), dating from the 3rd millenium BC.
Antequera is situated about 47 kilometres north of Malaga in Andalucia, it has a population of around 40,000 and overlooks the fertile valley bounded by the River Guadalhorce and the Sierra de los Torcales.
