The former fishing village turned holiday resort known as Puerto de Santiago is one of Tenerife's more low key resorts, lacking the beaches and facilities of some more popular resorts, it is still a charming place to visit for those seeking a quieter holiday experience. While it does not itself have a decent beach, as such, the nearby Playa de la Arena to the south serves nicely and despite its black volcanic sand it is a very clean award winning beach. The ever popular Los Gigantes to the north also attracts plenty of visitors and is a little livelier.
Puerto Santiago can be reached via the TF-47 road and is around 45 km from Reina Sofia airport (Tenerife south).
