Totana Map -
The town of Totana in the province of Murcia, Spain is located just a short drive down the A-7 (E-15) motorway from that city. Totana has a population of around 28,000 (2006) and a municipal area of about 287 km2. Totana is an ideal starting point from which to explore the hill country of the Murcia region and lies on the edge of Murcia's spectacular sierras, check out the Sierra de Espuņa for start. Totana is mostly renowned for its production of ceamics and pottery for which is has a tradition going back to the Arab occupation (8th to 13th Centuries), there are numerous potteries in the town producing a stunning array of ceramic work. Totana is also important for agriculture and for pig-farming and poultry. Further south you will find the splendid resorts of the Costa Calida coastline including Mazarron, Aguilas and Calabardina also worth visiting is the ancient town of Lorca with its Baroque architecture and 13th Century castle.
