Gata de Gorgos (Cat of Gorgos) has a history going back to the Arab occupation when the village was pertaining to the taifa of Denia, it gained its independence from Denia in 1535. The village is well known for its craft work and there are an abundance of craft shops selling locally made wares in the village.
