Los Alcazares

The capital of the region, Murcia City can be reached by car in about 35 minutes, or by train from the nearby towns of Torre Pacheco or Balsicas, both of which are just a ten minute drive from Los Alcazares.

Murcia has a variety of historic and modern interests including its imposing Cathedral, the Casino, designer shopping and a multitude of flower filled, shaded plazas in which you can while away a pleasant hour or two with a drink and a delicious local tapas meal.

A little nearer is Spain’s oldest port, Cartagena around a twenty minute drive away. Similar to Murcia, Cartagena has some excellent shopping facilities, Roman ruins such as the Augusteum, the Punic Ramparts and the recently refurbished harbour area with the world’s oldest submarine on display (built and designed by a native of Cartagena, Isaac Peral in 1884).
